Tarnagulla was once a thriving gold town, people came from far and wide hoping to strike it lucky. By 1865, the town had reached its peak with a wide range of businesses operating including 4 hotels, 9 general stores, several churches, 3 surgeons, a share broker and watchmaker. Today the population numbers around 300.
