Artist's Description
Watsonias are big, graceful plants, with tall stems of trumpet-shaped flowers.
Native to South Africa, wild watsonia was originally introduced to Australia as a garden ornamental but is now an environmental weed of moist sites. It was considered naturalised in Victoria by 1907 and was spread widely in the 1940s as a fashionable garden plant. It is also a weed in New Zealand and on the Indian Ocean islands of Mauritius and Reunion.
This photograph was taken at a bush campground at Rubicon, Victoria, Australia.
