Description
Lake Mulwala is a man made lake created by the construction of a weir on the Murray River. A large portion of the lake was cleared of the forest of red gums by a group of local men who took up axes and cross-cut saws, and in 1938 began the enormous task of felling the trees to create an open area in the lake. Though throughout much of the lake the trees still remain.
The Murray River is the border between NSW and Victoria and this photograph taken on the Victorian side of the lake at Yarrawonga.
