Description
I think, to me, this is the last of true Australia, where you help your mates, you look after one another, and we've had a town here that virtually runs on volunteers for years and years.~Chris Gregory, Devenish Resident
The above quote was taken from an ABC 7:30 Report transcript entitled "Tiny Town Buys Pub" http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/stories/s149285.htm
Although the train no longer stops there and the milk bar and garage have closed, the townspeople have decided to take control of their own destiny.
When the only pub was put up for sale, the unanimous view was that the town could not afford to lose its heart and soul.
So the citizens of Devenish pooled their funds and bought the pub themselves.
